Influence of Relative Humidity on the Characteristics of Filter Cake Using Particle Flow Code Simulation

To study the effect of air humidity on particle filtration performance, Particle Flow Code (PFC) calculation program was used to numerically simulate formation process filter cake. The effects relative deposition morphology, porosity and resistance characteristics cake were revealed. results show that (RH) is mainly reflected in density surface viscosity particles. It found higher humidity, moisture content, greater density, viscosity. With an increase or with a decrease viscosity, bridging phenomenon became more obvious; dendritic weaker; and, therefore, structure denser; decreased; total increased. As changed, actual particles changed simultaneously different degrees, which caused variation trends characteristics. Three types particles, DM828 (Starch), PVA1788 (Polyvinyl Alcohol) Polyacrylamide (Polyacrylic acid), selected for comparison. For studied increased monotonously, while decreased monotonously. first then increased, decreased, inflection point at 30% RH.
